Sylvia F. (Teeple) GutowskiFebruary 3, 1938 ~ September 17, 2017 (age 79)
Sylvia, 79, entered into rest and peace with her Saviour, on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her home. Sylvia was born on February 3, 1938 to the late Virgil and Beatrice Teeple. She was predeceased by her loving husband Hugh in 1995; brother and sister in law Grant and Barbara Teeple; uncle Arnold Baum. She is survived by her nephew Dale Teeple and wife Ella; niece Cynthia Rowe; great nieces and nephews, great great niece, cousins; aunt Patricia Baum and companion Finn the cat. Sylvia graduated from Hancock Central Schools in 1955 and then from the C.S.W.M.H. School of Nursing. One of the highlights of her career was being employed by Dr. Nicholas Occhino, Johnson City, who fondly called her “Mrs. G.” Quickly, her new friends and patients became comfortable with that name, which stayed with her for many years to come. “Mrs. G.” loved people; felt she was called by God, who was always “on duty” with her, to love and care for the needs of many, whatever they may be. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, NY. A special thanks from “Mrs. G.” goes out to her family, friends, neighbors, physicians and all those who cared for me lovingly and filled every day with joy. I ask God to bless you abundantly, love you dearly, and watch over you always. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, at 10:00am, at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9:00am, until the time of the service at Barber Memorial Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Sylvia may be made to a charity of one’s choice or Central United Methodist Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave, Endicott, NY 13760.
