Elizabeth (Betty) Balch entered the Kingdom of Heaven on March 26, 2021 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Clemburn Balch, her brother Albert Scherer and sister Dorothy Casey. She is survived by her sister Barbara McDaniel of Pasadena, California, son Derek Balch of Endwell, New York, daughter Barbara Lis (Edwin) of Endicott, New York, grandchildren Matthew Balch of Solvay, New York, Kimberlee Van Horn (Matthew) of Endwell, New York, great grandchildren Ivy and Jake Van Horn, along with several nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of the Endwell United Methodist Church, helping with bazaars and church dinners for many years when she was younger. Betty lived a full and exciting life hosting many festive parties and always had a smorgasbord of delicious food. She was a marvelous cook, skilled seamstress and Tetris player. She loved walking the woods at IBM Glen, enjoying the trails and bridges and pointing out the Lady Slippers, Trillium and other wildflowers. She had a great sense of fun, often planning surprise picnics in the snow, summer rain, or early morning breakfasts at the Glen. She would often hike the creek beds looking for fossils and turning rocks to find salamanders, so she could show her children. She also enjoyed antique shops, searching for rare finds at garage sales, and the occasional visit to the casino. She loved travel and was always up for fun and adventure. She was a wonderful mother and a doting grandmother and great grandmother. She will be forever missed by her family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lourdes Hospital for their compassionate care, along with Caregivers for their wonderful home care staff. Due to Covid, church services will not be held. Burial will be at the convenience of the immediate family. Those wishing to acknowledge their condolences can donate to the Endwell United Methodist Church of Endwell, New York.
