Frederick C. Moyle of Endwell, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. Fred’s passions were his family, music and teaching. He is survived by his children, Ken (Binghamton), Jim (Katonah, NY) and Lynne (Virginia Beach); and grandchildren, Michael, Kenna, Aiden, Alexander, Danica and Greyson. Growing up, Fred’s children fondly remember camping with Dad in the Adirondacks; romping in the surf at Cape May; the smell of his cigar on summer nights at the cottage; and breezy drives in the Monte Carlo. As the kids grew older, memories became Bombay Sapphire martinis with stuffed olives (“just waive the vermouth over it”); hotdogs and popcorn at B-Mets games; and long Sunday afternoon phone calls. In his golden years, Fred cherished his grandkids and his sweetheart, Pat Smith (Endwell), with whom he enjoyed SUNY basketball games, dinners at Cacciatore’s and many, many concerts. Fred’s passion for making music spanned more than four decades. He was well known as the leader of the Rhythm Katz band and, later, for Celebration DJ service. It was common on evenings out for someone to extend a hand and exclaim “Fred Moyle! You played for my wedding and later my kid’s wedding!” He loved it. He also loved teaching. His English students and colleagues at Vestal Central High School were his other family, and his nights re-reading Shakespeare to prepare for the next day somehow never seemed like work. (Grading papers was another matter.) He thrilled at hearing the successes of his former students, and nothing seemed to touch him like the words “you inspired me …..” The family will receive friends on Friday, March 19th, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City. Burial will be in a private ceremony at Riverhurst Cemetery, where Fred will join his beloved parents Delbert and Cordelia.
