Geraldine (Garreth) Gitler

January 18, 1929 ~ May 9, 2018 (age 89)

89, passed away at Wilson Hospital on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.  She was predeceased by her Husband Albert Gitler; parents Florence Blow and Chester Garreth; grandparents Burt T. and Addie E. Blow.  She is survived by her cousins Jim Blow and Margaret Mohler; special nephew and caretaker Carl and Marcia Huff; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; several special friends.  Gerry retired from the NY Telephone Company after over 30 years of working as a telephone operator supervisor and she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.  She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and taking care of “Chippy”.  Gerry enjoyed traveling across the United States and down with her friends in Myrtle Beach.  She was an active member of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Binghamton where she would help out at the Lutheran Picnic Grounds each year.  Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and caretaker to those around her.  A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, at 1:00pm, at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City.  Burial will be in the Ascension Lutheran Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00pm, noon, until the time of the service at the Barber Memorial Home.  Those wishing to give a monetary donation can do so in Gerry’s memory to the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, 323 Maple St, Endicott, NY 13760 or a charity of your choice.
