Tracy (Florence) B. (Bergeman) Vail

November 16, 1932

passed away peacefully in her home on February 17, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Lena Bergeman.   She was born and raised in the Philadelphia area.  After marrying Jack, her husband of 57 years, she moved to Overland Park, Kansas where their children, Jack and Karen (Ephraimson, husband Hans) were born. The family moved to Binghamton in 1964. Tracy opened her first Hallmark store in 1976.  By the time she retired in 2009 she had a chain of 10 stores across upstate New York and northeastern Pennsylvania. She was a member of Hallmark’s Gold Crown Retail Advisory Board and was a six-time winner of Hallmark’s Gold Crown Retail Excellence award. Tracy was also active in community affairs. She was a docent for Roberson Museum and a director for the Riverside Drive Nursery School where upon moving up to president, she doubled the school’s size and enrollment. More recently she was on the Board of the Goodwill Theater.  Tracy was devoted to her family and friends.  With them, she loved to entertain, travel, ski, horseback ride, do puzzles, and play bridge. She was always there for those she cared about.  Her family was her greatest source of joy, and her dedication to her children and grandchildren was always evident.  Her love, warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.  She was the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren; Sarah and Evan Vail; Dylann, Alec and Sam Ephraimson.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, February 24th at the Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City, New York.  The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the service at the Barber Memorial Home.   Interment will be at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the Goodwill Theater Inc. at 67 Broad St Johnson City, NY 13790 or Discovery Center, 60 Morgan Rd, Binghamton, NY 13903.
