The Very Rev. Archpriest Stavros Rousos, age 68, reposed in the Lord on (Monday), January 3, 2022. He was in retirement, while attached to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Endicott, NY. Father Stavros, born Stevens H. Rousos, was born in Miami, FL, on August 19, 1953, to Steve J. Rousos and Patricia Ann nee Young. He is survived by his wife Deborah nee Yurchak and daughters Nika Frey (Mark) and Kyra Smith (Father Matthew) along with six grandchildren: Xenia, Aemilia, Micah, and Livia Smith and Trinity and Reznor Frey. Father Stavros has been a Russian Orthodox Priest for almost 50 years and rose quickly through the ranks having achieved the rank of “Mitred Archpriest”. All services will take place in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 308 N. Page Ave, Endicott, NY with Fr. Stavros’ son-in-law the Rev. Priest Matthew Smith, Rector, officiating with concelebrating guest clergy. On Monday, January 10th, from 4:00-6:00pm the wake will be held. The Rite of the Burial of a Priest will take place on Tuesday, January 11 at 12:00pm followed the next morning, January 12th at 9:15am with the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Fr. Matthew and guest clergy. Interment will follow in Saint Michael Orthodox Cemetery in Jermyn, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the family for the grandchildren’s education.
