My best friend, Gary Griffis (12/7/46), died on Wednesday July 20, 2022. He passed away at home surrounded by his family. Gary was predeceased by his parents Jim and Alberta (Dodd) Griffis, also by his brother Richard Griffis, Sr. Gary retired as a proud Captain from the Binghamton Fire Department in 2007. He was an EMT instructor, an original member of Southern CISM Team, and also a Deputy EMS Coordinator for Broome County. Gary loved the outdoors, hunting, hiking and to go camping. Gary is survived by his wife Toni-Lou (Alise-Corbin) Griffis, his 2 sons Michael Griffis, and Joseph Griffis (Melody Robbins). His two step sons Francis (Corby) Corbin (Tina), and Andrew (Chip) Corbin (Lise Leahy-Soltis). Gary loved and enjoyed every one of his grandchildren. McKenzie MacDowall, Dr. Spencer T. Corbin (Nichole Garrnett), Erika Corbin (Billy Riedel), Emily Bobel (Alex), and McKenna Corbin (Hunter Platner). He also survived by his (sisters and brother in law), Martha (Ann) Griffis, Mary-Jo Alise, Michael Alise (Joanne). Many nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main Street Johnson City on Saturday August 13 from 11am-1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon 1:30-3:30 pm at the VFW 526 Court St, Binghamton, NY
