Obituary

Gerald Everett Carpenter, born on November 26, 1936 in Susquehanna, PA went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2022 at his home in Maine, NY.  He was 85 years old.  He was the oldest son to the late Everett and Renabelle Carpenter and had 9 siblings.  He was predeceased by his sisters Beverly and Evelyn; brothers Kenneth and Roger.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years Ivette Pacheco Carpenter; his children Jeremiah, Sarah, Joseph; grandchildren Alexandra, Eliana, Everett, Katarina; sister Kathryn; brothers Paul, Raymond, Elmer, George; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Gerald joined the US Army directly after graduation from Windsor High School and served in the Panama Canal during the Korean War.  Singing was his passion and he even performed in Carnegie Hall after leaving the Army.  He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Choir in NYC for over 25 years while working in the Bancroft Hotel in Manhattan.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, 1321 Reynold Road, Johnson City.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30am until the time of the service at the First Baptist Church of Johnson City.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gerald’s memory to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, 303 East Wacker Dr., Suite 2300, Chicago, IL 60601-5224
