Mabel A. Evans, 94, passed into Jesus’ arms May 18, 2022, at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton, NY. Mabel was born on May 22, 1927, in Orland, IN to Lester and Mary (Rice) Wooster. Surviving are a brother, Nelson Wooster of Sturgis, MI, a son, Ron (Peggy) Evans of Binghamton, NY, a daughter Sandra Anderson of Mesa, AZ, her grandchildren, Marci (David) Tripicco of Johnson City, NY, Michael Evans of Los Angeles, CA, Heather Bellar of NM, Elisabeth Evans of Binghamton, NY, her great-grandchildren, Courtney (Corey Weyant) Tripicco and Matthew Tripicco, several nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Carol Wagner, and a brother James Wooster. Living most of her lifetime in LaGrange, IN, she was a secretary for 26 years at SPX of LaGrange and then a bookkeeper at Farmers State Bank in LaGrange, IN. She was a longtime member of Brighton Chapel in Howe, IN. Mabel moved to Binghamton in 2015 to live with her son and daughter in law, where she joined CrossPoint Community Church. Mabel was an avid singer who sang many years with the International choral touring group, Sounds of Hope, touring Europe twice. She also enjoyed performing with the “Six Mrs.” Community Sextet. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, reading and corresponding with friends. Phil 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” The family would like to thank the staff at Elizabeth Church Manor and Lourdes Hospice for their loving and compassionate care given to Mabel. A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 AM at CrossPoint Community Church, 1 Grand Blvd., Binghamton, NY 13905. Pastor Mark Stento will officiate.
