Margaret (Kostun) Pekera

February 7, 1923 ~ January 30, 2021 (age 97)

97, passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 30, 2021 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home, one week shy of her 98th birthday.  She joins her husband Francis, along with her parents Anna (Babish) and John Kostun, her sister Anne Kostun Pekera and son in law Richard Jones.  Surviving her are her daughters Sandra Jones of Glen Allen, VA; Deborah (Anthony) Krysak of Southwest Harbor, ME; and Paula Perez (Adam Lefkowitz) of Plantation, FL.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Nikki Krysak (Martin Marion) of East Calais, VT; Daniel Krysak of San Diego, CA; Marie Krysak (Bryan Isaacson) of Portland, OR,; Jason Jones of Glen Allen, VA; and Heather Jones of Alexandria, VA.  Great grandchildren Zach Hart-Marion of Casper, WY; Karolane Hart-Marion of Burlington, VT; and Xavier Hart-Marion of Montreal, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.  A lifelong resident of Johnson City, NY, Margie retired from Wilson Memorial Hospital having worked many years in the medical records department.  She was devoted to her family, all of whom meant the world to her.  She was very active with the girl scouts as a leader for many years along with the PTA at Theodore Roosevelt School while her children were young.  In her free time, she enjoyed working on her many craft projects.  Margie was a very giving person and her home was always open to family and friends for sharing good times.  She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  She belonged to the Women’s Guild and volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Church in Johnson City for many years.  Our family would like to thank Jessica and all of the caring staff at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home for all of their help from the time Margie first arrived until the moment of her death.  Their help during a very difficult time is appreciated more than words can express.  Due to COVID, a Memorial Mass will be offered when restrictions are lifted.
