Marianne Martha Mattiace, 83, of Endicott, New York passed away peacefully on October 13, 2021, with her family by her side. She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will forever be missed and cherished for all that she did. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Albina Struck and her daughters Michele Velez Mattiace and Darlene Mattiace. She is survived by her sons Dean (Susan), Dirk (Dawn), and Darin, and her nephew Juergen Struck of Germany. Marianne was a loving and devoted grandmother to many grandchildren and a great grandchild. Marianne was born in Hamburg, Germany. She immigrated to the United States of America in March 1959 (at the young age of 20) to start a new beginning having seen and lived through the devastation of WWII. She became an office assistant and quickly made new friends. This found her moving to California where she met Michael Mattiace. They moved back to NY and then on to Ann Arbor Michigan where they purchased a Baskin Robbins ice cream franchise that they managed as a team in parallel with being supportive and loving parents of Dean, Dirk, Michele, Darlene, and Darin. In the ’70s, the family moved back to NY to be closer to family and Marianne continued to be the strong mother which helped her children to prosper as kids as they started to find their way in the world. Marianne moved to Virginia to be closer to her eldest son and then eventually moved north to Binghamton to be close with her sons and daughter. In retirement, Marianne was cherished as a loving and caring grandmother that devoted her time to the family. The family will be hosting a memorial in Marianne’s memory at a later date.
