Obituary

Mary (Mae) Christine Raychel, 95, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, relative and dear friend to many joined her Lord on Thanksgiving Day 2020 at UMH Rehabilitation as a result of COVID 19. She was a resident of Saint Louise (at UMH) for 10 years where she participated in most  activities. Mae was predeceased by her loving husband Walter (1985), parents Anthony and Mary Mayhoff (Dupont, PA), brother Stanley Mayhoff, sister Irene Meyers.  She is survived by devoted daughter Wanda (Mark) Broczkowski, step grandchild Andy (Bonnie) Broczkowski, step great grandchild Madelyn and grandchild Mary (Mike) Burns, step great grandchild Cadden; devoted daughter Linda (Jim) Knight, grandchild Kristina (Chris) Wilcox, great grandchild Mae (namesake) and grandson John (Kate) Knight; also sister Ceil Cwikla.  Mae was born in Dupont, PA and relocated to Johnson City (1943).   Walter and Mae were married while he was on leave (US Navy while stationed in the South Pacific).  She was a lifelong, devoted member of All Saints National Catholic Church where she gave wholeheartedly and generously in many aspects until her health no longer allowed.  She was a charter member of the Kopernik Observatory (Vestal, NY) and participated in numerous events.  Mae was a member of OES #14.  She worked briefly at Endicott Johnson and then Columbian Mutual Life Insurance for many years.  Mae treasured her church, Polish heritage and carried on many traditions with her family.  She traveled the World.  She was known for her kindness, generosity, intensity and keen memory.  She enjoyed scrabble, Rummikub and cherished her time with family and friends.  Mae’s funeral and burial took place privately due to the pandemic.  If donating in her name, please consider Kopernik Observatory (Vestal, NY) or All Saints National Catholic Church.
